# Plans

> Your race-day strategies — pacing, fueling, gear, drop bags, and tasks. Built on the web, run offline on race day.

A **plan** is your race-day strategy. It's built around one of your [routes](/routes/overview) and captures everything you need to execute on race day: target finish time, per-segment pace, fueling, gear swaps, drop bag contents, and per-checkpoint tasks.

You build a plan once on the web. The mobile app downloads it and runs offline on race day — no signal needed, no battery panic.

## The five-step planner

The planner walks you through one step at a time. You can skip any step that doesn't apply.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="1. Route & Pace" icon="gauge-high">
    Confirm the route, set a target finish time, and tune per-segment pace and effort.
  </Card>

  <Card title="2. Checkpoints & Segments" icon="map-pin">
    Tune what was already on the route — cutoff times, aid-station info, segment boundaries.
  </Card>

  <Card title="3. Gear" icon="shirt">
    What you carry, what's mandatory, what you swap at each checkpoint.
  </Card>

  <Card title="4. Fuel" icon="droplet">
    Calories, carbs, hydration, and electrolytes over the course.
  </Card>

  <Card title="5. Dropbags & Tasks" icon="bag-shopping">
    Drop bag contents and per-checkpoint reminders the mobile app fires on race day.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

You can skip any of the steps if you just want something simple, or you can go in-depth and build out a detailed plan. Skipped steps won't be saved to the plan, and won't be visible on the plan summary page.

## Edit, duplicate, or share

Saved plans aren't locked. Reopen any plan to change a step. Duplicate a plan to build a sibling strategy (e.g., an A-goal and a B-goal pace for the same race). Share a plan with a runner who wants the same template.

## Race day

Once you've downloaded a plan to the mobile app, it runs offline. The mobile app shows you which segment you're on, your target pace, what to eat, what to wear, and what's coming next — without a network connection.

See [Mobile app setup](/get-started/mobile-app) for the install and download flow.
